The Micro Internship programme offers an opportunity to explore career pathways

Looking to gain experience, grow your confidence, and explore career options all in just a few days? The ºÃÉ«tv’s Micro Internship programme offers short, paid opportunities designed to fit around your studies and give you a real taste of working life.

Micro Internships are open to all students. Most involve up to 35 hours of work. You might complete these hours in a standard working week or spread flexibly over several weeks, depending on the project’s needs. Whether you want to explore a particular sector, build your CV, or try something new, a Micro Internship is a great place to start.

Why do a Micro Internship

  • Explore career options. Try sectors you’re curious about, even if they're unrelated to your degree.
  • Get real insight. Take part in day-to-day tasks like meetings, presentations, and project work.
  • Build your skills. Develop communication, problem-solving, time management, and more.
  • Grow your network. Meet professionals and make connections that could lead to future opportunities.
  • Boost your CV. Talk about your experience in applications, interviews, and on LinkedIn.
  • Fit it around your studies. Internships usually run during vacation periods, so you won’t miss academic time.

Read each advert carefully. Some roles will ask you to apply through our internal application process. Others ask you to apply directly to the employer.

Each advert includes details about the role, the working hours, and whether it’s remote, in-person, or hybrid.

If you have restrictions on your working hours, for example due to visa conditions, don't worry. Many employers offer flexible patterns and are happy to spread the hours over more than one week.

Before applying, make sure you’re available and able to fully commit to the internship.

Pay and conditions

All Micro Internships in the funded programme are paid at the National Living Wage. You’ll be employed by the University and seconded to the host organisation.
