| Learning Outcomes: |
At the end of the unit, you will be able to:
- analyse the stability and convergence of a range of numerical methods and;
- assess the practical performance of these methods through computer experiments.

| Synopsis: | You will explore convergence theory and linear stability theory for the numerical approximation of ODEs and evolutionary PDEs.
|
| Content: | Topics chosen from: Solution of initial-value problems for ODEs by linear multistep methods, Runge-Kutta methods, splitting methods and exponential integrators; techniques for finding the convergence and stability properties of numerical methods; numerical methods for parabolic and hyperbolic PDEs.
