Learning Outcomes: By the end of this unit, you will be able to:
  • learn independently or to transfer knowledge into unfamiliar situations in a spirit of critical enquiry;
  • understand the requirements for academic writing, including referencing and the appropriate use of graphs, diagrams and tables;
  • demonstrate academic writing skills within the production of a project dissertation;
  • give a presentation of the project work.



Synopsis: You will undertake an individual research project. You will read about your chosen topic, discuss with your academic supervisor, write a report, and give an oral presentation.

Content: The programme of study for each project will be that defined by the project description. Individual project supervisors provide academic direction and tutorial support during the project. This will include direction to appropriate academic material and skills training that may be required by the student.
