As a Project Manager within the Cloud Enabling and Agresso Re-platforming (CLEAR) project you’ll be at the forefront of delivering the Digital Foundations that underpin the University’s Strategic Plan.

The CLEAR project is a university-wide project, building the foundations of Cloud environment to ensure the University’s core systems are fit for the future.   As part of this, the University’s finance system Agresso, is taking this step to move to the Cloud.  As the project moves into its implementation phase, multiple workstreams and activities that require active planning, management and monitoring.

The Finance Systems Re-Implementation Project Manager will be responsible for the management and delivery of this workstream, though there may be opportunities to collaborate across other workstreams. The project will involve a variety of changes and impacts affecting stakeholders across the organisation and will need to be carefully designed and managed. We are looking to recruit a Research Associate to support us on an Innovate UK Research Grant examining digital therapeutics for mental health. 

Specifically, the grant is titled “ELE Stress: Adaptive XR Therapy for Acute Occupational Stress” and involves a collaboration between The ºÃÉ«tv, Cineon Training Ltd and NHS and Policing partners. 

To elaborate, ELE-Stress is an XR-based resource hub designed to support workplace mental health by integrating a range of adaptive therapeutic tools to tackle workplace stress which contributes to mental health-related absences or workforce attrition. 

The hub includes an XR enabled toolbox with resources such as exposure therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and green/blue therapies for stress relief and recovery. 

The toolbox builds upon decompression work already completed with ºÃÉ«tv (UoB) and several police forces, as well as stress-adaptive Virtual Reality Exposure Therapy (VRET) developed with the NHS.

The role is 0.5FTE (2.5 days/week) for a 12 month duration (planned August 2025 start) and will involve working with Dr Arnold and Dr Daniels on a number of work packages. 

This will include leading on PPIE activities, such as focus groups, with individuals working in high-pressured occupations within healthcare and policing. 

Additionally, the Research Associate will support the development of clinical interventions (based on CBT, exposure therapy, green and blue therapies) that can be embedded into the XR enabled toolbox.

Our ideal candidate

We are looking for a research associate who:

• Has appropriate qualifications (see person specification)
• Has research design and implementation experience, including data collection, analysis, and writing for publication
• Can organise and prioritise their own workload, with excellent communication skills and appropriate technical skills for the project (e.g., awareness of XR/VR applications)

The UK is experiencing a growing population health challenge – an ageing society, stalling life expectancy, increasing health inequality, and a growing number of people living with a major illness. 

Meanwhile, approximately 40% of chronic disease deaths globally are directly linked to just four products manufactured by transnational corporations: tobacco, ultra-processed foods, alcohol and fossil fuels.

The Local Health Global Profits research consortium brings together researchers with local governments, public health practitioners, civil society organisations and local populations to understand the factors that impact on population health and the effective, scalable interventions to tackle them.

As Communications Lead, you will work with academics, researchers, professional colleagues, and policy practitioners to:

• Share research findings with key stakeholders to increase knowledge and understanding of the commercial determinants of health
• Establish LHGP and the Centre for 21^st Century Public Health as a trusted and authoritative source of information and expertise
• Support the adoption of research outputs and tools by public health policymakers and practitioners.   

Based within the Centre for 21st Century Public Health (C21PH) at the ºÃÉ«tv, you’ll be joining a friendly and dynamic team of multidisciplinary researchers and professional staff working at the cutting edge of public health research.

As a skilled communications professional, you will have considerable experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating effective communications strategies and day-to-day activities.

You will be:

• Confident in building effective relationships with academic colleagues, partners, and external stakeholders
• Skilled at crafting clear, accurate, and compelling messages from complex academic and/or scientific research information
• Experienced in providing communications guidance and support to others to develop understanding of effective communications messaging, channels, and tactics.

The role has two complementary parts: 

1. Working with the Dean and Director of Accreditations, the post holder will plan and project manage the School’s submissions to the main accreditation bodies. This will include the securing the School’s first AACSB accreditation and the renewal of our EQUIS and AMBA accreditations as well as programme-level accreditations such as ACCA, CFA etc.  

2. Working within the Dean, Associate Dean International and the School’s rankings’ group the post holder will: gather data and play a critical role in data submissions to rankings organisations; conduct in-depth analysis of the key rankings, monitor and critically analyse the School’s and competitors’ ranking performance and create timely reports based on these analyses. 

Much of the data required by the rankings organisations is also required by the accreditation bodies so there is cross-over in the two areas of work. In fulfilling these functions, the post holder will foster and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues across the School of Management and with key personnel in the rankings and accreditation bodies.   

This is an exciting, busy and varied role which requires the post-holder to have excellent communication, organisational and managerial skills.  The role holder will also need to demonstrate strong analytical skills when collecting and presenting data in addition to those of project management.

We provide financial support to Academic and Professional Services departments, with responsibility for planning, budgeting, monitoring and reporting. The department is based in the Virgil Building in the centre of Bath and there will be a requirement to work on the main campus at times, however, hybrid working is one of the many ways we recognise the importance of achieving a positive work life balance. Food and Transport: A System that Works for Everyone

Research on food insecurity in Bath and Northeast Somerset identifies the importance of public transport to people’s ability to access food. 

This role is to support an 11-month project, establishing community workshops to develop and test a persona-based training package for transport policymakers and providers. 

The aim is to embed marginalised voices in the design and operation of local transport. 

You will work with the research team (Dr Blackwood, Department of Psychology; and Dr Fletcher, School of Management); and with our community partners, including B&NES Council Public Health and Transport teams, Age UK, and the B&NES Affordable Food Network. 

Interviews for this position are expected to take place on the 14th or 15th July.

Duties will include:

• Organising team meetings and assisting project management.
• Liaising with stakeholders
• Organising workshops with policy makers and community groups
• Assisting with the development of persona-based training tools
• Designing and implementing evaluation of workshops
• Conducting desktop research
• Writing reports

As a member of Research Staff at the ºÃÉ«tv, you will be encouraged to take up a minimum of 10 days professional development pro rata per year.

This is a part-time (6 hours per week), fixed-term position, expected to end in April 2026. 

Our ideal candidate

This position would particularly suit someone interested in the development and evaluation of innovative processes and tools for engagement with policy makers and other stakeholders (e.g., transport providers, advocacy organisations, community members). 

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and attributes:

• A degree in social sciences, public health, urban planning, or a related field. 
• Experience in community engagement and working with diverse populations.
• Strong research skills, including desktop research and evaluation research.

We’re seeking a highly skilled, adaptable and self-motivated machinist to provide technical support to the Mechanical Services Main Workshop and CNC Manufacturing facility.

The post requires you to support our student automotive race teams including both mechanical and electric powered vehicles and our electric motorcycle team, providing both technical and manufacturing support. In addition, you may be called upon to provide instruction for safe operation of conventional lathes and milling machines in our student workshop.

You will also provide technical advice, instruction and support to academic and research staff and students in the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

Your responsibilities will also include:

• Manufacturing complex components from a variety of materials using 3 axis and 5 axis CNC machine tools with the assistance of CAD/CAM software
• Design, manufacture, repair, development, construction, modification and commissioning of equipment, rigs and models
• The teaching and supervision of undergraduates in the safe use of machine and hand tools during timetabled periods

ºÃÉ«tv you

Our ideal candidate will have:

• Substantial experience in CNC programming and machining, and conventional precision machining 
• Experience in an engineering machine shop or toolroom environment
• Experience in the safe operation and use of a variety of mechanical workshop machine tools together with design, fitting and assembly skills.
• A recognised toolroom / technician / mechanical engineering apprenticeship, possess a minimum of a City and Guilds qualification or equivalent

Knowledge and experience of Computer Aided Design (CAD) programming would be an advantage but training will be available if necessary to develop these skills.

The School of Management is looking to recruit a School Assistant Registrar on a full time, permanent basis. 

The primary role of the Assistant Registrar is the administration of the School’s registry and secretariat functions, ensuring the effective operation of academic quality assurance and quality enhancement procedures, in partnership with the Associate Deans, Doctoral College, Centre for Learning and Teaching (CLT) and the Registry.

This role will be known internally as Executive Officer 

The ºÃÉ«tv is seeking to appoint a Planning and Project Manager (internally titled Executive Officer) within the Advancement Office. This position will play an important role in contributing to the ambitious plans for alumni and supporter engagement and philanthropy at Bath, working within a supportive, friendly, and dedicated team.

The Executive Officer has three key areas of responsibility:

• Project and programme management: oversee projects across the department to ensure quality delivery and cohesiveness. The Executive Officer will independently manage projects themselves and will monitor compliance and effective risk management across all projects.
• Governance: deliver effective governance for key boards and committees.

As the Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in the coordination, recruitment, event organization, and ongoing development of the Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Sustainable Chemical Technologies: A Systems Approach (CSCT). The Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Sustainable Chemical Technologies: A Systems Approach (CSCT) is an EPSRC-funded centre at the ºÃÉ«tv that will train around 70 PhD students in five cohorts, hosted within the Institute of Sustainability and Climate Change (ISCC). The CDT will operate in close partnership with our Swindon-based Innovation Centre for Applied Sustainable Technologies (iCAST), a £17M partnership for innovation and translation of research that has established a cluster of over 100 sustainable technology companies and will provide a dynamic innovation-focused context for PhD training in the region.

The Institute of Sustainability and Climate Change integrates physical, social and systems sciences at Bath and develops leaders in tackling critical sustainability issues. The Rheumatology Research Group (RRG) at the ºÃÉ«tv and the Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases uses anonymised databases from primary and secondary care with associated biobanks focussing on rheumatic disease for numerous research projects. The group has made significant contributions to the scientific literature with meaningful clinical impact using a variety of local, national and international databases over the last 30 years. The combined data is a valuable resource for the academic development and research needs of doctoral students, clinical fellows and other early career researchers. As data management including cleaning, curating, merging and analysing data becomes ever more complex we are seeking a research associate to support our wide ranging research group.

You will join a vibrant and productive research team, within which your role will be to coordinate and facilitate the team’s access to research databases including the Clinical Practice Research Datalink (comprising anonymised medical records from primary care), the rheumatology biobanks at the Royal United Hospitals and related lab/clinical databases at the ºÃÉ«tv. You will have expertise in data management and programming to supply data to the project teams for statistical analysis and contribute to publishing results in high-quality peer-reviewed academic literature. There may be the opportunity to take ownership of certain projects depending on your interest and expertise ( e.g. statistical modelling, bioinformatics, database design).

The Department of Social and Policy Sciences at the ºÃÉ«tv is seeking to appoint a Research Associate to work on the ‘There’s no place like home? Exploring dying at Home in Urban Poverty’ project, funded by the ESRC (Principal Investigator: Dr Kate Woodthorpe). 

Based in the Centre for Death and Society, we are looking to appoint a qualitative researcher with an interest in end of life care, poverty, and/or housing. 

A parallel post is also being advertised at the University of Hull.

By 2040 home is expected to overtake hospitals to become the second most common setting for death in England and Wales. 

As the preferred place of death for most people, evidence on the impact of housing on dying at home and the provision of domiciliary end of life care services is limited. 

This is particularly the case for those living in urban poverty who are more likely to experience smaller homes, overcrowding, poor living conditions, and precarious rental tenancies. 

This study will make distinctive interdisciplinary contributions to theory, policy, and practice from historical, social, clinical, and policy perspectives. 

Working as an integral part of the project team, and alongside another researcher based in Hull, you will review literature, design data collection materials, recruit participants, and undertake and analyse qualitative interviews and associated design materials.

You will demonstrate excellent organisational and interpersonal skills and preferably have knowledge of research ethics. 

You will contribute to outputs from the project, including research reports and summaries, journal articles, and conference/seminar presentations, for a variety of different audiences, including academics, policymakers, and health and social care practitioners. 

Our ideal candidate

You will have a PhD in a social science discipline or have equivalent experience. 

Ideally you will have a research background in sociology, social policy, anthropology, health sciences, social work or another relevant field, and experience of qualitative research.

The ºÃÉ«tv is seeking a Physiotherapist to provide match day cover for our Men’s BUCS Premier South rugby fixtures.

This is a casual role suited to an individual with strong clinical reasoning, confidence in trauma management, and experience working independently in performance sport environments. The successful candidate will contribute to player welfare and collaborate with the interdisciplinary support team.

Matches typically take place on most Wednesdays from September to March and require approximately 5 hours for home fixtures and 7 hours for away fixtures, covering pre[1]match preparation, match time, and post-match responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver pre-match preparation, including strapping, and provide immediate pitch[1]side trauma care using appropriate equipment (extrication kit, oxygen, etc.).
• Lead on injury triage and acute management, liaising with coaching staff, performance leads, and next of kin as needed.
• Document injuries and ensure effective handover to Lead Rugby and Senior Physiotherapists, adapting method of communication for Bath Academy players if applicable.
• Collaborate with the wider interdisciplinary team to support athlete care and rehab planning.
• Supervise a placement student on match days, ensuring safeguarding and professional standards.
• Comply with RFU, BUCS, and ºÃÉ«tv protocols for clinical care, documentation, and safeguarding.

Important Information

• Travel time will not be paid. However, mileage expenses will be reimbursed for away fixtures in line with the University’s travel policy. Other reasonable travel expenses may also be covered upon prior agreement.
• An Enhanced DBS check will be conducted and provided by the ºÃÉ«tv.

Essential Criteria

• Degree in Physiotherapy and current registration with CSP and HCPC.
• Valid PHICIS Level 2 or equivalent.
• Experience in pitch-side medical cover, including injury assessment and emergency care.
• Experience in strapping and conducting SCAT 6 assessments for head injuries.
• A driving licence and access to a vehicle

Desirable Criteria

• Experience working within a university or performance sport setting.
• Familiarity with the BUCS competition structure and the needs of student[1]athletes.
• Experience in mentoring or supervising students.

Working as part of a team of multi skilled technicians, the postholder provides high quality support for teaching and research in the Faculty of Engineering and Design. The successful applicant should have some experience of laser cutting, CNC routing, 3D printing and relevant CADCAM software packages as applied to architectural modelling.

A large part of the role will involve using knowledge and experience to advise students and other stakeholders, including researchers, to aid them in the development of design briefs and subsequent construction and completion of their projects. An interest or experience in creating architectural models would be beneficial. 

The team is responsible for ensuring a safe environment for students and colleagues while contributing to the teaching and supervision of students during laboratory sessions and project activities. Although primarily supporting the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering, the postholder will have the opportunity to contribute to the teaching and research activities delivered across the whole Faculty. 

This is an entry level role and as such, hands-on training is provided to ensure the postholder develops high level technical skills alongside in-depth discipline-specific knowledge. 

The post holder will be required to operate as part of a highly skilled team to provide technical support, advice and guidance to a range of stakeholders. We’re working to transform public and environmental health management, establishing the first WBE Urban Living Lab facility; a state-of-the-art digital water sensing platform, training base and ideas hub. The centre combines sensing, mathematical modelling, data analytics and informatics with epidemiology and public engagement tools to provide low-cost and real-time community-wide testing of population health and the environment. 

Our ambition is to provide a practical roadmap for an early-warning system platform, co-produced with regional and national stakeholders to serve as a sentinel and multi-generation testing site for research and innovation. This platform will enable testing of public health and environmental interventions focussed on increasing community resilience to disease, pollution and climate change impacts.

The Principal Service Manager is key to the delivery and optimisation of IT support services to the University. 

With proven success in leading and improving IT service support, they are responsible for the provision of 1st and 2nd line support.

The Senior Developer role sits within the Delivery & Operations pillar of the Digital, Data and Technology Group.

As a Senior Developer (SITS) within the Platforms & Applications group, the postholder will work on the University’s Student Record System – a critical system for recruiting students, managing their academic journey, and awarding degrees.

They will be responsible for the development, configuration, support, and maintenance of the University’s Tribal SITS software, along with related applications, services, and integrations.

The Senior Developer (SITS) will join a small team working closely with data owners across the University – including Admissions, Academic Registry, and Finance – to ensure the system is configured to support the efficient operation of the institution. The University is currently migrating its core applications to cloud platforms, and experience with similar migrations (even on different systems) will be of interest.

The successful candidate will demonstrate experience in supporting and configuring commercial off-the-shelf applications, as well as integrating these systems within a broader enterprise ecosystem.

In addition to in-application configuration, candidates will need technical skills in HTML, JavaScript, SQL, Git, and related tools.

As our subject matter expert on Fire Safety, you'll be responsible for: 

• Acting as the main contact for all fire safety matters, providing advice and guidance, and acting as the University's appointed competent fire safety person.

You will build on these significant steps by leading on the staff facing elements of our "Be Well at Bath" initiative and acting as our Subject Matter Expert on staff wellbeing.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Engaging and networking with staff, leaders, managers and experts across the university.
• Representing staff wellbeing in strategic meetings such as the Be Well Steering Group, Departmental Wellbeing Action Planning and Suicide Prevention Working Group to proactively develop actions and initiatives that enhance staff wellbeing.
• Developing and supporting the implementation of evidence-based wellbeing interventions for staff and leading on projects that enhance a healthy culture.
• Leading the communication plan for staff wellbeing; developing and updating intranet pages, writing blogs and articles and agreeing a wellbeing calendar of events.

The Department of Life Sciences at the ºÃÉ«tv was recently formed through the merger of the departments of Biology & Biochemistry and Pharmacy & Pharmacology. It has over 90 academic staff across a broad range of disciplines including, biochemistry, cell & developmental biology, evolution, genetics, immunology microbiology, pharmacology, pharmaceutical pharmacy and structural biology. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Research Associate for a 24 Month fixed-term contract to work as part of the JPIAMR funded consortium 'Fungal Genomics and Antagonistic Community Interactions' (). This project has a broad remit to investigate the epidemiology and evolution of pathogenic Candida species from both clinical and non-clinical settings on a global scale. A major focus of this post will be to develop and implement methodology to detect and monitor Candida species from wastewater samples collected routinely from sites in Bath and Somerset, UK. Genomic, metagenomic and qPCR data from these samples will be analysed alongside clinical data generated by other project partners, and existing data from the public domain.  The successful candidate will therefore be expected to carry out a combination of bioinformatics and wet laboratory work. 

As a member of Research Staff at the ºÃÉ«tv, you will be encouraged to take up to a minimum of 10 days professional development pro rata per year for training courses, workshops and attendance at international conferences.

The successful candidate will hold a PhD in genomic epidemiology or microbiology or a closely allied discipline. Ideally, the candidate will have experience in bioinformatics and coding (eg R, Python), and in managing and analysing large genomic / metagenomic datasets. In addition, laboratory experience in microbiological and molecular biological methods (eg qPCR, DNA extraction) would be desirable. This post is part of an international multidisciplinary consortium, and the candidate would be required to work collaboratively as an effective project partner to ensure the success of the project as a whole.

Research at The Milner Centre for Evolution encompasses diverse aspects of evolutionary biology, and we have a strong research interest in microbial genomics. The Centre, which is part of the Department of Life Sciences, provides a supportive and vigorous research environment with excellent facilities. We work closely with the newly formed Centre of Excellence in Water-based Early Warning Systems for Health protection (CWBE.ac.uk).

We are seeking a Research Associate to take a key role in the design and development of digital hydraulic fluid power technologies and control systems. This role is funded by the UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship, investigating Digital Hydraulic Fluid Power Technologies for Decarbonising Off-road Vehicles. 

Hydraulic fluid power has several advantages, such as high power density, compactness, low weight, fast response, and good controllability. However, the current hydraulic control method involves using valves to throttle flow, reduce pressure, and control the speed and force of the load. Although this approach is simple to operate, it is highly energy inefficient, and the average power efficiency of fluid power systems is only about 21%.

This project aims to design, develop and prototype next-generation digital hydraulic technologies and control systems to significantly improve hydraulic energy efficiency, fuel consumption, and CO2 emissions to decarbonise off-road vehicles for a sustainable and greener future. In addition, there are also opportunities to conduct interdisciplinary research on highly efficient actuation mechanisms, collaborating with colleagues nationally and internationally.

ºÃÉ«tv you

You will be responsible for delivering high-quality research on the topic, including:

• Design and modelling of digital hydraulic fluid power technologies
• Prototyping, validating and evaluating digital hydraulic converters
• Digital fluid power system integration and experimental validations

The EPSRC funded Sustainable Manufacturing Hub ‘CARMA’ (Cellular Agriculture Manufacturing Hub - ) has the vision to transform food production, transitioning to an environmentally, economically, and socially sustainable model in which novel cellular agriculture (cell ag) manufacturing systems complement traditional food production. This role is one of a network of researchers across six universities, and part of a wider international network of like-minded academic institutions and companies.

The role will work on the tissue engineering-based aspect of work package 1, specifically working on a novel bioreactor design to achieve high yield at scale, with the desired quality. The successful applicant must have a strong and extensive background in bioreactors for animal cell culture, with deep understanding of cell-scaffold interaction and how this impacts bioreactor design and operation.

We particularly welcome candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas:

• Bioreactor design, build and operation for cultivated food production
• Cell-scaffold construct innovation for improved bioreactor yields
• Upstream-downstream interface (harvesting; fluid dynamics and thermodynamics)

Experience of project managing an academic-industry or industry-based R&D programme is highly desirable. Development of research proposals, for research projects with academic- and/or industrial partners will be an important aspect of this role.

Experience of managing aspects of R&D facilities is highly desirable. Supporting the academic leads in the running of the tissue engineering labs will also be an important aspect of this role.
