By the end of this unit students will be able to:
1. Assess needs, risks and strengths in collaboration with service users and carers, in order to plan and intervene to promote wellbeing * (PS 1.2, 3.4, 3.15). 2. Explain the range of theories and models for social work intervention in mental health with individuals, families, groups and communities and the methods derived from them (PS 1.1). 3. Recall mental health law, capacity law and mental health policy and explain how they impact on practice (PS 3.1, 3.15, 4.4). 4. Practice in an interagency, multidisciplinary and inter-professional environment (PS 2.3, 3.6, 3.13) 5. Recognise the value of research and analysis and be able to evaluate such evidence to inform their own practice (PS 4.2, 4.3). 6. Synopsis: | Build on 'Mental Health Social Work 1', in which you developed fundamental knowledge of the contested nature of mental health problems, as well as mental health policy and law.
You'll learn about key themes and issues within contemporary mental health policy., while developing your understanding of more complex mental health and capacity law.
This unit prepares you to assess needs, risks and strengths and work collaboratively with service users and their carers to promote their wellbeing. |
