Synopsis: | "Develop an appreciation of current developments and challenges in drug discovery programmes within the pharmaceutical industry.
Demonstrate an ability to identify, analyse, interpret and evaluate a selection of research papers and presentations covering a specific area of current drug discovery.
Engage with a variety of scientific resources including seminars and webinars. " |
Content: | Students will attend a series of seminars/ webinars designed to provide an insight into the challenges of drug discovery and development. Guest lecturers from pharmaceutical companies will speak on various aspects of novel drug target identification and validation as well as current examples of drug discovery within the biomedical field. Students will attend seminars and carry out research to identify a novel drug target. |
