Learning Outcomes: On completion of the unit, the student will be able to:
  • Time manage and take responsibility for a task within an agreed work plan.
  • Demonstrate competency in a range of professional skills including effective oral and written communication and others appropriate to the placement such as effective team work.
  • Perform specialist tasks within an academic, research or commercial setting.
  • Reflect on personal goals set and critically evaluate achievements during the placement.



Synopsis: In this unit you will gain experience of working in a professional environment in an appropriate industrial, commercial or academic setting.

Content: The placement will be undertaken in approved premises of the Placement Provider in the UK or overseas in commercial, academic and research institutes. The placement year will be assessed as a written placement executive summary and a poster.
