Learning Outcomes: By the end of this unit you will be able to:
Critically evaluate the relationship between humans and the technology they use.
Critically evaluate the positive and negative aspects of digitally-mediated communication.
Assess how technology is shaped by and shapes being human.
Assess the implications of research on technology for theories of human behaviour.


Synopsis: "Gain an introductory knowledge of classic and contemporary theory and research in the field of cyberpsychology. You will investigate the impact of technology on human behaviour and further your understanding of how theories of human behaviour apply to the study of digital interaction."

Content: This unit will cover the following topics: The false distinction between the online world and the 芒锟斤拷real world'. How technology impacts upon human behaviour and the presentation of self and expression of identity. The impact of online behaviour for physical health, mental health and support. Digitally mediate disorders such as technophobia or internet addiction. Cybercrime, such as hacking, cyber-stalking, romance scams.
