By the end of this unit you will be able to:
Compare and contrast different theoretical perspectives in the psychology of learning
Critically evaluate the different theoretical perspectives concerning learning
Critically evaluate the evidence for the efficacy of Intelligent tutoring systems
Assess the circumstances where collaboration facilitates learning
Evaluate the usefulness of videogame design for designing learning environments.

| Synopsis: | Examine the different theoretical perspectives in the psychology of learning. These include biological theories, cognitive theories and sociocultural theories.
You will explore contemporary issues in educational psychology.

| Content: | This unit will examine the following topics:
- Explore the different theoretical underpinnings of the psychology of learning
- Examine some controversial biological explanations for learning and educational achievement
- Critically discuss some cognitive models of learning and their implications for learning and teaching
- Explore the role of the teachers and peers in education and learning
- Discuss the role of technology in learning and development both in schools and outside
