By the end of this unit you will be able to:
Critically evaluate psychological behaviour theories, concepts and research. Critically appreciate how behaviour might have multiple causes, some of which might be more rational and conscious than others. Critique, synthesise, and apply psychological theories and research on behaviour change to real-world issues. Critically appreciate the contributions and limitations of psychology in changing behaviour in real-world contexts. |
Synopsis: | Develop a critical understanding of psychological theories and ideas about the roots of behaviour and how policymakers and practitioners might use these theories to change individuals behaviour.
As part of a group, youll apply these theories to analyse and overcome a real-world practical problem. |
Content: | This unit will be a group-based project.
You will learn about ideas and theories in psychology relevant to behaviour change.
In your groups, you will be tackle a real-world problem, and produce a theoretically informed intervention that will attempt to solve this problem.
You will explain the decision processes that went into the design of this intervention.
You will develop and present your behavioural change proposal, both in a verbal presentation and in a written report. |
