Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this unit, you will be able to demonstrate the following: 1. A critical understanding of key theoretical concepts such as 'racism', 'populism', 'far right', 'fascism', 'anti-fascism'. 2. The ability to apply sophisticated concepts and theories to empirical case studies. 3. A sophisticated understanding of key terminological debates. 4. A critical appreciation of the historical debates and struggles core to the issue and how they have shaped the contemporary political debate on issues of race and racism in particular. 5. The ability to apply the knowledge acquired to real life information (media sources)锟铰�.


Synopsis: Enhance your understanding of developments shaping 21st century politics, from the racist far right to misogyny and transphobia. You will critically engage with contemporary theoretical, conceptual and empirical developments in fields such as oppression and reactionary movements. You will explore these areas in the context of current political movements, and increased awareness of these political movements.

Content: In this unit, you will critically engage with the most recent theoretical, conceptual and empirical developments in the field to help you make sense of the resurgence of reactionary movements. The topics explored will range from key terminology and concepts such as racism, populism, intersectionality, supporters and resistance.
