Upon unit completion, students will be able to:

| Synopsis: | "Examine the nuances of the multiple forms of democratic transition and consolidation, and authoritarian regimes across the world.
You will develop an understanding of different regime types, investigating why democratisation has been less successful in some regions than others, with examples from Africa, Asia, Latin America and Europe.
You will explore key topics in existing literature on democratisation and authoritarianism, while covering a broad regional range and evidence."
