Learning Outcomes: By the end of the unit, students will be able to: - Identify a research area and research question, and design a research project to investigate and conclude on that question. - Execute the above design and report on the project while demonstrating a critical appreciation of contemporary or emerging issues in accounting or management, and applying both academic and practitioner perspectives in the context of current and predicted conditions facing organisations.


Synopsis: Independently study a research question and area of interest to you. This is a dissertation-style research project, with guidance from a supervisor. The Advanced topics in management unit in Semester 1 will have exposed you to the latest thinking in various research areas of management. This and other units you may have studied will help you choose the focus of your individual project.

Content: Learning about and applying methods involved in:
  • Identifying a research question
  • Designing a research methodology
  • Identifying relevant source information and analysing (as necessary) empirical data
  • Producing an academically rigorous report that would be accessible to non-specialists
