Learning Outcomes:
  • Translate theory into an applied sports development setting.
  • Explain the importance of sports development initiatives in relation to an applied case study.
  • Investigate an issue in sports development.
  • Critically evaluate components of sports development in practice.
  • Independently apply key theories and concepts associated with applied sports development.



Synopsis: "Adopt an applied approach to understanding key components in designing, implementing and evaluating sport development initiatives. You will develop key conceptual knowledge and gain an applied understanding of how sport development is delivered in practice. You will work collaboratively with a sports development organisation to consider a current issue they face. "

Content: Cross-cutting agendas and the role of sport in social policy delivery; Supporting sports development in the public/commercial/voluntary sector; Applied principles of sports development.
