Learning Outcomes:
  • Critically examine advanced topics in sports coaching.
  • Critically appraise relevant theories when examining coaching from a range of perspectives.
  • Critically evaluate the effectiveness of a range of coaching practices.
  • Employ effective written and oral communication skills for sharing coaching-related knowledge with specific audiences.



Synopsis: "Critically examine advanced issues, concepts and practical approaches in sports coaching. You will explore and analyse a range of perspectives and practices, enabling you to develop key pedagogical skills and coaching knowledge."

Content: Advanced issues in sports coaching (e.g. leadership, identity, power, capital); Equality and inclusivity; Coach roles and responsibilities; Employment issues, and support; Session delivery; Contemporary issues and case studies in sports coaching; Career and study pathways in sports coaching.
