Learning Outcomes: After successfully completing this unit, you will be able to: - Apply knowledge of space platform and orbital mechanics principles to analyse and solve complex engineering problems (C1,C2) [EX] - Apply analytical techniques to model complex real-world space platforms and missions (C3) [EX] - Integrate multiple aspects of space platforms and satellite missions to solve complex real-world design and operational problems (C6, C13) [EX]


Synopsis: Learn about the space environment, the fundamentals of spaceflight, space launch vehicles, satellite platforms and control, and communication system planning and link budgets. You'll explore the structure of the space industry and future directions. You'll also gain experience of space mission design, and simulation of the components of a space mission.

Content: Overview of the the space industry. System-level overview of space platforms. Orbital Mechanics. The structure of the space environment. Introduction to satellite communications. The design and simulation of a space mission.
