  • Critically explore a range of fields related to English language teaching (ELT) including intercultural communication, knowledge about the English language and how to teach English.
  • Understanding and explaining basic ELT terminology related to form/meaning/language use/skills.



Synopsis: "Discover the fast-evolving world of international English language education. You will: - explore up-to-date research, policy and practice developments in the field of teaching English to speakers of other languages - analyse English language as the worlds major international language - critically analyse current issues, debates and assumptions about how English is used, taught, and learned worldwide. This unit is suitable for anyone interested in teaching English as an international language"

Content: An introduction to basic linguistics with a practical focus on: the skills and systems of the English language; teaching methodology - understanding the learning context and the appropriate planning for effective teaching; the selection and evaluation of resources and material for ELT.
