Learning Outcomes: After taking this unit, you should be able to:
* Synthesise knowledge to explain the importance of water as a limited resource;
* Describe, compare and critically evaluate water management technologies;
* Assess the impact of regulation and policy on water quality;
* Assess the impact of water on human health.

Synopsis: Water is essential and a limited resource. This unit will help you develop an understanding of the importance of global water resource challenges, as well as introducing you to methodologies used in water resource management. You will also develop an understanding of the importance of water research for human population health.

Content: Water as a limited resource in the context of globalisation, urbanisation and population growth. Water quality and its resource management: emerging water quality threats. Sensing and management. Current water management technologies including innovative monitoring approaches and drinking and wastewater treatment. Regulation, policy and risk assessment in the context of water quality and chemical management. Role of water research in combating disease and increasing population health.
