Synopsis: | The aim of this unit is to give you practical experience of school teaching and the opportunity to develop a range of transferable skills such as communication, time-management and project management. You will spend time in a local school both observing lessons and working with pupils and teachers. You will use this experience to design, carry out and evaluate a project at the school. |
Content: | You will be paired with a school and teacher from the local area. You will initially spend time observing teaching at the school and acting as a classroom assistant if required. Based on this experience you will design a project to carry out in the school in semester 2.
During semester 2 you will spend 1-2 days a week in the school carrying out your project and any other appropriate teaching tasks as negotiated with the teacher.
You will regularly meet with the university supervisor and other students on the UAS unit in order to develop skills in assessing educational literature, discuss projects and progress. |
