Learning Outcomes: After successfully completing this unit, you will be able to:
* Combine and apply the transport properties and interactions of complex fluids, solids and multiphase systems to evaluate complex and integrated mechanisms to complex chemical engineering problems (A1 Level F, A2.2c, A2.2d, A2.2 Level F, A2.4 Level F1, A2.4 Level F2, A2.5 Level F1) [CLO: I1]
* Choose and apply appropriate techniques and information to overcome complexity and uncertainty, and design the product, tool or device (A1 Level F, A2.2 Level F, A2.5 Level F, A4.2 Level F3, A4.2 Level F4, A5.2 Level F1, A5.2 Level F2) [CLO: P2]
* Relate information from other disciplines to the choice of technology and design (A3.2 Level F3, A5.2 Level F8) [CLO: P1]
* Compare, recommend and justify the choice of technology for a given chemical engineering challenge, including identification of limitations (A2.2 Level F, A2.6 Level F2, A3.2 Level F2) [CLO: I2]
* Select and apply advanced principles to new and as-yet unsolved complex and uncertain separation and reaction problems in chemical engineering (A2.2b, A2.4a, A5.2 Level F1, A5.2 Level F2) [CLO: P3]
* Apply chemical engineering principles and systems thinking, considering conflicting requirements (safety, social, economics, sustainability, ethics) in complex chemical engineering problems (A2.4 Level F1, A2.4 Level F2, A2.5 Level F1, A2.6 Level F1, A2.7 Level F, A5.2 Level F3) [CLO I1]

Content:
* Advanced core knowledge in chemical and biochemical engineering
* Relevant advanced chemical and biochemical engineering concepts, particularly advanced (bio)process engineering and process optimisation.

Skills:
* The ability to conceptualise complex chemical engineering (bio) processes (T,F,A)
* The ability to specify and critically evaluate chemical engineering (bio) processes (T,F,A)

Aims: This unit will aim to convey an overview and a deeper understanding of the core principles of chemical and biochemical engineering.
